Having a change in our daily routines is a surefire way to throw us all for a loop. We’re all in the same boat, wondering how to continue with our active lifestyle while still maintaining the safety of our health and others. While these measures, such as social distancing, is imperative right now, don’t let yourself fall into a sedentary lifestyle.

We know coronavirus (COVID-19) is still top-of-mind and people are worried, for good reason. It’s understandable as we have an increasing number of diagnosed cases every day in the state of Michigan and across the county, shelter-at-home orders, and even more business closures.

Seniors across the country are adapting to the changes in daily life caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Most places of public gathering and nonessential businesses are closed, and many families and caregivers are faced with helping our aging population adjust to this new normal. To help connect our residents to the outside world during this difficult time, we have established a list of Virtual Visits. It’s as simple as picking up your smart phone or logging on to your computer; just a few clicks away you’ll find anything from art museums to car museums, online learning to online church services. We hope these resources and links will offer some helpful options to “get out and about.”

Senior Housing News recently published an article discussing how retirement communities already have to be cautious with the spread of influenza each year. Seniors with respiratory ailments are a high-risk demographic, and measures have already been put into place to keep seniors healthy during times like this. Vista Grande Villa is no exception.
