The RN/LPN - $5,000 Sign on Bonus** will be assigned Staff nurse duties. The RN/LPN is responsible for the supervision of direct patient care, proper and timely administration of medications and treatments, accurate documentation, and emergency calls as assigned. 

The duties and responsibilities of the position are to be carried out in a manner that is consistent with the mission, values and operating principals of Vista Grande Villa.

Reports To: Director of Nursing
Essential Job Duties:
  1. Provides suitable environment for patients.
  2. Supervises duties of aides and staff.
  3. Supervises and evaluates work performance of aides and reports to supervisor.
  4. Provides guidance for aides and orderlies as necessary.
  5. Helps coordinate nursing activities with the activities of other departments when necessary.
  6. Phones doctors as necessary, notes orders and documents when required.
  7. Verifies that nursing care is being provided and notes any changes in the patient’s condition. Documents where required on patient chart, Medical Administration Record, etc.
  8. Helps orient new nursing staff accurately and professionally.
  9. Helps supervise staff, organize and provide mandatory in-service programs for nursing and aide staff.
  10. Assists physicians during rounds.
  11. Gives and receives shift reports.
  12. Attends mandatory in-service training and continuing education sessions as assigned.
  13. Provides emergency treatment to residents, employees, and apartment residents when needed.
  14. Assures continuity of service and care.
    1. Administers personal hygienic and therapeutic measures for residents as directed.
    2. Assists with diagnostic procedures.
    3. Applies dressings, binders, ointments, powders and other aids as prescribed by professional nurse or physician.
    4. Administers first aid during emergencies.
    5. Administers medications and treatments, charts the required documentations of same.
    6. Maintains the self-respect, personal dignity, and physical safety of each resident.
    7. Performs restorative and rehabilitative nursing for residents by teaching self-help, and independence in activities of daily living according to resident care plan.
  15. Must be committed to providing excellent customer service and to Vista Grande Villa’s Standard of Performance.
  1. Graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
  2. Currently licensed with the Board of Nurse Examiners in the State of Michigan.
  3. Comprehensive knowledge of nursing principles and practice.
  4. Prefer six months nursing experience. Geriatric involvement preferable.
  5. Demonstrate proficient nursing skills.
  6. Supervisory experience preferred but will train. Diversified duties which require an intensive knowledge of a restricted field. Must use a wide range of procedures. Requires judgment.
  7. Must analyze facts and circumstance involving problems in order to take action.
  8. Works under general supervision where standards and practices are established to allow employee to proceed with little functional guidance. Refers questionable cases to superior.
  9. Probable errors are usually detected and corrected by back checking of others or by succeeding operations.
  10. Regular contacts with variety of inside and outside personnel.
  11. Must obtain and furnish sensitive and/or supervisory information in a tactful manner. Improper handling could cause friction.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

Frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting; must be able to stand/walk for up to 70% of the work day; must be able to lift, transfer, turn and position residents with or without assistance. May be subjected to offensive odors and combative behavior. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. May be exposed to communicable diseases including the HIV and HBV viruses. Must be able to work paying close attention to detail with frequent interruptions.

Concentrated mental and visual attention in performing complex duties with high accuracy. Duties involved sustained periods of concentration. Good working conditions with some exposure to offensive odors. Part-time immediate supervision. Responsible for patient charges and accountable for cost control. Responsible for supervising a staff which normally exceeds eight employees but selfdom exceeds 15 employees.

Ability to work rotating weekend and holiday schedule.


May be exposed to confidential information disclosure of which would be contrary to the best interest of the facility or professional ethics. Must be able to maintain confidentiality of resident protected health information according to HIPAA and Corporate Compliance guidelines.
