Seeking Certified Medical Assistants to assist with the administration of medications and quality care of residents.

Essential Job Duties:

Safely prepares, administers, and charts oral, topical, and suppository drugs. The medication aide who prepares the medicine administers the same.

Checks and prepares each dose immediately preceding administration.

1. Follows administration protocol:
Checks medication with transcribed or original order.
Checks all information on label or package for accuracy and clarity.
Clearly identifies the resident with proper medication.

2. Assists residents with dressing, grooming, eating, bathing, positioning, turning, toileting and exercising.

3. Demonstrates and appreciates the heritage, values, and wisdom of the residents and an understanding of the normal changes of aging.

4. Reports and records observations and results of treatments, tests, procedures and specimens when indicated.

5. Transfers, transports and escorts residents as needed.

6. Answers signal lights promptly.

7. Changes bed linens, makes beds and keeps rooms clean and orderly.

8. Assists with quality improvement programs.

9. Constant contact with residents, family members and staff. Contact requires the ability to communicate with cooperative and courteous attitude despite simultaneous tasks.

10. May be exposed to confidential information disclosure of which would be contrary to the best interest of the facility and professional ethics. Must be able to maintain confidentiality of resident protected health information according to HIPAA guidelines.

11. Must be committed to providing excellent customer service and to Vista Grande Villa’s Standards of Performance.

Qualifications:

Nursing Assistant certification required with registration in the state of Michigan. Prior geriatric nursing assistant experience preferred. Good assessment skills.

Comprehensive knowledge of applicable nursing assistant principles and practices to insure quality of care standards for residents are maintained. Must be self-motivated and function as an “in-charge” person. Must possess a high degree of interpersonal relations skills and capability of relating to a variety or people and personalities. Considerable initiative, judgment, and leadership skills are also required.

Must be able to work with interruptions. Majority or work is performed inside the facility but occasionally outdoors.

Requires ability to understand and follow policies and procedures of infection control, disaster preparedness, safety rules and regulations and facility rules.

Participate in shift report to provide continuity of resident care. Work cooperatively with the residents, nurses, physicians and families.
