A Spirit of Giving at Vista Grande Villa

If there’s one thing that’s worth spreading this holiday season, it’s the spirit of giving. Whether it’s peace of mind for an aging loved one, respite for a caregiver, or a monetary donation to a charity you love, there are many ways to give back during the month of December.

Giving the Gift of Security with Senior Living

The holidays are the perfect time to gather with family and friends. Often, it’s during these celebrations that family members start to notice physical or cognitive changes in their aging parents and loved ones, especially those they may not see on a regular basis. These changes may be your first clue that it’s time to research senior living options in your area.

The decision to move a loved one into senior living can be difficult. But rather than viewing this huge transition as a loss of independence, think of it as a gift of enrichment in which you’re helping improve the quality of life for someone you love.

At Vista Grande Villa, our residents feel secure, empowered, and supported in every moment of their journey. Here are a few benefits of senior living, especially during the winter holiday months.

  • Stay safe and warm.

Icy driveways and freezing temperatures can make it difficult and dangerous for seniors to get out and about during the winter months. At VGV, residents never have to worry about shoveling sidewalks or slipping on ice. Our well-equipped neighborhoods and attentive staff take care of all of that so that seniors are always comfortable, secure, and have everything they need easily accessible. If extra support is needed, our highly-trained staff is available 24/7.

  • Build meaningful friendships.

VGV actively works to foster meaningful, lasting relationships between residents through planned activities and meals. Being active and building relationships with other residents is a perfect way to alleviate the winter blues. During the holidays, Vista Grande Villa also offers a full schedule of themed parties, programming, and events for residents to enjoy. Of course, family and friends are always welcome to visit. We even offer comfortable, overnight accommodations for out-of-town visitors.

  • Join in activities and celebrations.

With no daily house chores, residents have more time to pursue new interests and do the things they love. Join a friend for lunch. Attend a holiday concert. Bake cookies for your neighbors. There are plenty of activities and events at VGV to satisfy every interest.

Winter Respite Care Available At VGV

One of the best ways to get to know a senior living community is by living in it. Winter respite residents get to experience everything that VGV has to offer including chef-prepared meals, weekly housekeeping, planned programs and events, easy transportation, and 24-hour support from a caring team of experts.

Using respite services also gives caregivers time to relax during the busy holiday season while providing peace of mind. They can rest assured knowing their loved one is cared for in a professional, compassionate environment while enjoying delicious meals, personalized attention, and social engagement.

From a few hours to a few weeks, our winter respite program offers options and flexibility for caregivers to:

  • Relax at home for a night to rest and recharge
  • Spend a couple hours catching up on holiday errands and shopping
  • Take a long weekend to celebrate Christmas with out-of-town friends and family
  • Leave for a two-week winter vacation with family

Make a Donation

At VGV, we prioritize giving back to our community. One way we do this is through an intergenerational program that produces food in our on-campus greenhouse. The food produced is distributed to socially isolated seniors in the Jackson community.

In addition, VGV gives back by sponsoring:

  • The annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s
  • Several “Big Brothers Big Sisters” events throughout the year
  • The Henry Ford Hospital “Pink Ball,” which is an annual fundraiser that raises money for patient care

As end-of-the year approaches, would you consider a charitable donation to VGV? Vista Grande Villa is a non-profit organization, which means your monetary donations are tax deductible. We are deeply grateful for the generous donations and contributions we receive from residents, families and community members throughout the year that ensures our ability to provide quality, compassionate care to all of those we serve.
